Senior Accountant (Hybrid)

Full time, Utrecht, Netherlands

 

In this role, you will take ownership of end‑to‑end accounting activities for the Netherlands. You will be involved in monthly and year‑end closing processes, contribute to continuous finance improvements, and collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure high‑quality financial outcomes.

 

As a Senior Accountant, you will

• Prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts and conduct necessary account analysis and research
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliation accurately and timely
• Prepare journal entries to record inter-company charges, depreciation and amortization, and bills / reconcile inter-company accounts monthly and correct variances
• Reconcile bank statements, Fixed Assets, Pre-paid expenses, etc. every month, and research questionable activity
• Support and manage the month end close process by ensuring month-end checklist items are processed timely and accurately

• Support and coordinate the year‑end close process, including preparation of required schedules and documentation

• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors

• Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process
• Participate in company Finance improvement plan in accordance with mainland Europe policy

 

About you

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience in general accounting, preferably in an international environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools, particularly MS Excel; strong working knowledge of other Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Teams) required
• Experience working with ERP systems; SAP (FICO) experience preferred
• Solid knowledge of accounting under IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and local GAAP
• Public accounting experience and/or CPA qualification is a strong plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Dutch
