Job Description:

New Hampshire Housing’s mission is to promote, finance, and support housing solutions for the people of New Hampshire. We have empowered over 55,000 families to achieve their dream of homeownership and have played a pivotal role in funding the development of over 16,000 multifamily housing units. Our dedicated team manages thousands of Housing Choice Vouchers annually.

We’re on a mission, and we want your expertise!

Are you passionate about making affordable housing more accessible and supporting individuals and families on their path to stable housing? Does the opportunity to do meaningful, mission-driven work as a Rental Housing Assistant inspire you? If so, we’d love to connect!

We’re hiring a full-time Rental Housing Assistant for our Assisted Housing Division.

As a Rental Housing Assistant, you will play a vital part in administering programs that expand housing opportunities across New Hampshire. In this role, you will:

  • Guide applicants through the first step of the journey by determining initial eligibility for housing assistance, carefully evaluating documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HUD regulations and NH Housing policies, and clearly communicating next steps.
  • Stay at the forefront of housing program knowledge, maintaining expertise in federal regulations, the Administrative Plan, and specialized voucher programs, while ensuring compliance with Fair Housing, Section 504, and reasonable accommodation requirements.
  • Serve as a helpful, knowledgeable resource for individuals and families across New Hampshire, responding to inquiries about rental assistance, housing opportunities, and available services with clarity and care.
  • Manage and maintain program waiting lists, including the Housing Choice Voucher program and associated sub lists, ensuring accuracy, organization, and equitable access to housing opportunities.

To support onboarding and training, the initial weeks of employment will be conducted in-office. Following this period, remote work may be available on an intermittent basis, as determined by the manager.

Your experience, skills, and education should include:

  • Solid ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and confidently.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
  • Ability to understand and speak Spanish preferred.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field or at least four years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

You’ll love us because:

  • We prioritize our employees and invest in policies, benefits, and a workplace culture that supports their success.
  • You’ll join a collaborative, highly engaged team that values diverse perspectives.
  • We are a recognized leader in the affordable housing industry and take pride in the quality and impact of our work.
