About the Role

QA Automation Engineer

Operations - Warrington, Cheshire (Remote)

Want to own quality, not just test it?

We’re looking for a QA Automation Engineer to take the lead on quality across Allegiant’s digital platforms. This is a hands-on role where you’ll build our automation capability from the ground up, while still using smart manual and exploratory testing where it genuinely adds value.

You’ll work closely with senior engineers and architects, shaping how quality is embedded into our delivery pipelines and helping ensure our platforms stay resilient, scalable, and compliant as we grow in a regulated financial services environment.

What makes this role different

  • True hybrid QA – automation first, manual where it matters
  • Greenfield automation – design the framework, not just maintain it
  • Modern stack – React / Next.js, .NET, Azure, microservices
  • Real influence – quality embedded into CI/CD and release decisions
  • Regulated, meaningful work – quality genuinely matters here

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and building a modern automated test framework (Cypress / Playwright).
  • Creating automated tests across web apps, APIs, and backend microservices.
  • Carrying out exploratory manual testing to uncover edge cases and workflow gaps.
  • Embedding testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for fast, safe releases.
  • Working with developers and architects to ensure testability is designed in, not bolted on.
  • Testing complex end-to-end workflows, including CRM and case-management systems.
  • Supporting regulated change, producing clear test evidence and protecting system integrity.

What we’re looking for

  • A QA Engineer / QA Automation Engineer with hands-on automation experience.
  • Experience building or shaping frameworks using Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium.
  • Confidence testing modern web applications (React / Next.js).
  • Experience testing .NET microservices, APIs, and integrations.
  • Comfortable working with Azure DevOps and SQL for data validation.
  • Someone who balances engineering rigour with practical risk-based testing.

Nice to have (not essential)

  • Experience with performance, contract, or security testing.
  • Interest in AI-assisted testing tools or light operational automation.
