About the role

The way people spend, save, and invest shapes their everyday lives. We're looking for a Principal Product Designer to make those moments feel clear, useful, and distinctly Chime.

You'll shape some of the most important experiences in our mobile app, from how members manage money day to day to how they build toward longer-term goals. This role calls for a designer with exceptional visual craft who can turn complex financial decisions into experiences people understand and want to use. You'll set a strong design direction, stay close to the details, and help raise the quality of the product around you.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $222,000 and up to $290,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to

• Lead design across spending, savings, and investing experiences, from early concepts through launch and iteration.
• Create polished mobile experiences with exceptional attention to typography, layout, interaction, motion, and the details that make a product feel intuitive.
• Translate complex financial concepts into clear experiences that help members make informed decisions.
• Explore ambitious ideas, build compelling prototypes, and use feedback to refine the strongest direction.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, research, and content design to understand member needs and deliver thoughtful solutions.
• Bring a cohesive point of view to experiences across the app while finding opportunities to raise the overall bar for design quality.
• Give constructive critique, mentor other designers, and help teams make strong design decisions.

To thrive in this role, you have

• Deep experience designing consumer mobile products and a portfolio that demonstrates outstanding visual craft and shipped work.
• A track record of leading complex product design projects as a senior individual contributor.
• Strong interaction design skills and the ability to make sophisticated experiences feel simple and approachable.
• The range to define a vision, communicate it clearly, and work through the details required to bring it to life.
• Experience using research, customer feedback, and product data to inform and improve your designs.
• The ability to build trust across disciplines, navigate competing priorities, and move teams toward a shared direction.
• Experience in fintech or financial services is a plus, but is not required.
