Job Description:
Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is looking to hire two Patent Assistants. The Patent Assistant will support members of the Intellectual Property Practice Group focused on patent prosecution and is responsible for assisting senior patent prosecution staff in supporting attorneys and patent agents. After required training is successfully completed, the role offers the opportunity to work remotely up to approximately two days per week, based on business needs and performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, collect, review, and file formal documents (declarations and assignments).
- Maintain and update firm and client document management systems.
- Track due dates and send reminders for applications and office actions.
- Communicate with clients as needed.
- Prepare, review, and file Information Disclosure Statements.
- Train and review the work of other team members as necessary.
- Track the status of patent applications.
- Proofread all work, including reading documents for content and context.
- Prepare, maintain, scan, and close files.
- Submit file open requests for new matters.
- Proofread granted patents.
- Communicate with USPTO as needed.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- An Associate's or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) is preferred.
- Prior law firm experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of English grammar, proofreading and English composition skills as well as a disciplined eye for quality checking document accuracy.
- Excellent computer skills and a strong knowledge of MS Word, Windows, Outlook, Excel and Adobe are required.
Compensation: The national average salary range for this role is $57,000 - $107,000. Starting salary will be determined based on location, qualifications and experience.
