Job Description:
Position Highlights

Primarily Remote - Work from home with approximately two weeks of initial training in Temple, TX and occasional in-person educational meetings throughout the year (travel reimbursement provided).

Monday-Friday Schedule - Enjoy a predictable 8:00 AM-5:00 PM schedule with no weekends

Comprehensive Onboarding - Two-week orientation with shadowing, ongoing mentorship, and regular check-ins from experienced APPs and physician leadership.

Specialty Practice - Manage new, follow-up, and established headache patients while developing expertise in a growing subspecialty.

Manageable Patient Volume - Average of 15 patients per day, allowing time for quality patient care and in-basket management.

Growing Service Line - Be part of Baylor Scott & White''s expanding telemedicine program with strong organizational support.

Ideal Background - Five years of APP experience is preferred. Headache medicine experience is preferred, with candidates from Neurology, Family Medicine, Primary Care, or Urgent Care encouraged to apply.

Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) Telemedicine is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an autonomous provider, recognized by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) offers medical care based on the supervising physician''s scope of practice. An APP in telemedicine provides outpatient care for various conditions through virtual means.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
- Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
- Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved policies, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost. Recommends interventions to change behavior linked to health risks.
- Formulates and implements comprehensive patient treatment plans based on assessments. Uses evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and guidelines. Partners with physicians and team members when appropriate. Evaluates patient''s response to health care and effectiveness of care.
- Counsel''s patients and families about medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion. Counsel''s patients about drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
- Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient''s treatment plans and outcomes. Provides consultation services for conditions related to the Provider''s specialty and training.
- Performs invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider''s level of proficiency as delegated by supervising Physician.
- May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department.

- Know the information and techniques to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment options, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
- Knowledge of values, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.

- Skill in the use of computers and related software applications.
- Ability to develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans.
- Ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- National Nurse Practitioner certification in area of specialty for intended patient population.
