Title: Part-Time Notetaker/Captioner
Location: Waco United States
Job Description:

Ensure effective communication access and accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing students, employees, and visitors across MCC's audio and video materials, classes, labs, services, meetings, and events. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, captioning videos used primarily in classes and labs with deaf or hard of hearing students, and transcribing audio materials and videos that cannot be captioned. The Captioner may also serve as a notetaker, providing detailed notes for deaf or hard of hearing students and staff in classes, labs, and meetings. Additionally, the Captioner will review and verify the accuracy of captions created by other team members. This position regularly requires proficiency in English spelling, grammar, and punctuation, as well as strong keyboarding and typing skills. It also involves the use of basic computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, along with specialized software necessary for captioning. Employee may not exceed 19.5 hours per week.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
BENEFITS:
Part-Time Retirement. Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
