This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, while benefits programs are administered consistently and in compliance with regional requirements.

In addition to managing day-to-day operations, this role focuses on improving how payroll and benefits are delivered at Solink. You will drive process improvements, system optimization, and the use of automation and AI to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and support Solink’s continued global growth.

This is a hands-on leadership role that manages one direct report and works closely with Finance, People & Culture, and external vendors. The ideal candidate brings strong operational judgment, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to anticipate issues and design scalable, sustainable processes.

What you’ll be doing:

Global Payroll Oversight

  • Own end-to-end payroll operations across Canada, the US, and the UK, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance

  • Manage relationships with external payroll providers and ensure SLAs and service standards are met

  • Review and approve payroll inputs, reconciliations, and post-payroll reporting

  • Partner with Finance to ensure payroll aligns with accounting, reporting, and audit requirements

Benefits Administration

  • Oversee global benefits programs, including enrollments, renewals, vendor management, and employee support

  • Ensure benefits offerings remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with company strategy

  • Act as a subject matter expert on benefits-related inquiries and escalations

Automation, AI & Operational Efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to automate payroll and benefits workflows to reduce manual effort, errors, and cycle time

  • Leverage payroll systems, integrations, and emerging AI-enabled tools to improve data accuracy, reporting, and employee experience

  • Design and maintain scalable processes that support global growth and reduce operational risk

  • Partner with Finance, People & Culture, and Systems teams to implement tooling, integrations, and process improvements

  • Develop dashboards, reports, or self-serve resources that improve visibility and decision-making

People Leadership

  • Manage and support one direct report, providing coaching, development, and performance feedback

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and ownership within the payroll function

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Stay current on payroll, tax, and benefits regulations across all operating regions

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to address compliance issues, audits, and regulatory changes

  • Ensure proper controls, documentation, and data integrity are maintained

Process Improvement & Scale

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to evolve payroll and benefits operations as Solink scales globally

  • Create and maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge bases to support consistency and continuity

What You Bring

  • You have 5+ years of experience in payroll, with direct experience managing multi-country payroll

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, including the ability to perform complex reconciliations, data analysis, and validation

  • Strong working knowledge of payroll and benefits regulations in Canada, the US, and/or the UK

  • Experience managing or mentoring at least one direct report

  • Demonstrated experience improving operational efficiency through automation, system enhancements, or process redesign

  • Comfort exploring and adopting new tools, including AI-enabled solutions, to streamline work

  • Familiarity with global payroll vendors and HRIS/payroll systems

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across regions

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a comfort level operating in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience implementing payroll system integrations or automation initiatives

  • Exposure to AI-enabled reporting, data validation, or workflow tools

  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS or technology company

  • Professional certifications (e.g., PCP, CPP, or equivalent)

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included) or otherwise eligible to work in Canada.
