Responsibilities
The CRS Team Manager is responsible for leading and supporting a team of Credentialing Specialists to ensure the effective delivery of credentialing services across assigned facilities. This role ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards while promoting operational excellence, team development, and high-quality service delivery.
The Manager operates in alignment with organizational values, mission, and vision, and plays a critical role in strengthening medical staff credentialing processes, compliance, and partnership with facility leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, and support Credentialing Specialists to ensure performance, productivity, and service quality goals are met.
- Assign workloads, balance priorities, and monitor team performance.
- Identify staffing needs and communicate resource concerns to leadership.
- Assign and oversee completion of special projects.
Credentialing Operations Oversight
- Direct and implement credentialing processes in collaboration with the Associate Director and CRS leadership.
- Oversee initial and reappointment credentialing processes for assigned facilities.
- Conduct audits of credentialing files and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation, recordkeeping, and file maintenance standards are upheld.
Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of credentialing regulations and standards (Joint Commission, AAAHC, AAAA, CMS, NPDB, and state requirements).
- Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws, credentialing policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead facility preparation for surveys and accreditation reviews.
- Monitor compliance trends and implement process improvements as needed.
Facility & Stakeholder Support
- Serve as a subject matter expert for credentialing and privileging standards.
- Provide guidance to facility leadership, medical staff offices, and credentialing personnel.
- Support governance functions related to physician quality and privileging.
- Maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support assigned credentialing specialists during accreditation surveys.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Promote consistency and standardization across credentialing practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all electronic forms, policies, and procedures remain up to date and compliant.
Communication & Collaboration
- Participate in meetings, committees, and conference calls as required.
- Communicate effectively with leadership, staff, and external partners.
- Foster a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
Additional Duties

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- CPCS (Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist) required
- Extensive experience in credentialing and medical staff services required
- Surgical center or healthcare facility experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of credentialing processes, medical staff services, and regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with accreditation standards (Joint Commission, AAAHC, AAAA) state requirements, and CMS Conditions of Coverage
- Experience with NPDB querying and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in MD-Staff or similar credentialing systems preferred
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail
