THE POSITION
The Public Utility Commission (PUC) is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent multi-tasking abilities to join our team as a Legal Assistant 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports legal staff by providing a wide range of administrative and legal clerical assistance. The role requires strong organization, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple daily tasks. As a Legal Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Document Preparation: Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Travel Support: Prepare travel and training forms, compile cost estimates, and arrange travel through the online system
- Clerical Assistance: Handle mail, answer telephone calls, copy materials, maintain calendars, and manage office equipment
- Electronic Submission: Submit legal documents electronically or in person with accuracy and timeliness
- Courier Tasks: Serve documents and make filings within the downtown Harrisburg walking area

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.

To be eligible to participate in telework, the employees alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements:

Within a reasonable travel distance of headquarters; and

Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement or investigative work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
