ZPS is currently seeking a Jr. Software Engineer / Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to support a high‑visibility federal program based in Washington, D.C. This is a full‑time, hybrid position located at DOT Headquarters across from Navy Yard (metro accessible). This role is critical to the modernization and automation of enterprise Business Intelligence capabilities across a major federal mission environment. As a BI Developer, you will lead the transformation of legacy systems-specifically OBIEE-into modern, cloud‑integrated Tableau architectures, ensuring high‑quality analytics delivery and automated, scalable BI operations.
Responsibilities:
- Build visually compelling, scalable, and high‑performance Tableau dashboards from the ground up.
- Lead the end‑to‑end migration from OBIEE to Tableau, ensuring business logic, data integrity, and visual fidelity.
- Develop and promote best practices for data visualization and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with product owners to translate business needs into technical deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, sprint refinement, and brainstorming sessions.
- Work closely with engineers, analysts, SMEs, and senior stakeholders to support enterprise visualization needs.
- Translate conceptual BI requirements into rapid prototypes and full production solutions.
- Build customized, interactive Tableau dashboards tailored to user needs.
- Develop and maintain scalable Data Warehousing solutions for large, complex datasets.
- Utilize cloud platforms such as AWS, Databricks, and Azure to support BI/data engineering operations.
- Implement and maintain API‑driven ETL pipelines and automated data flows.
- Automate BI operations using scripting, serverless tools (e.g., AWS Lambda), and orchestration frameworks.
- Improve operational efficiency by automating recurring tasks such as report generation and pipeline triggers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of alike experience
- Experience using serverless automation technologies such as AWS Lambda
- Understanding of machine learning workflows or AI integrations in Databricks.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git.
Compensation:
- $80,000 - $91,000 based on experience
- PTO, Paid Holidays, Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, Sick Leave as required by Law
