POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The INTERPRETER performs tasks involving accurate and effective interpretation between the limited English proficiency (LEP) patients and staff in all aspects of clinic operations (medical, nursing, nutrition, clerical, etc.)  

Duties include but are not limited to calling back patients, assisting with phone lines, translating at the check-in, check-out windows, scheduling patients over the phone, patient reminders, etc.

As directed by the provider or supervisor, the employee translates informal written materials into the appropriate language.

When not actively translating for a provider, the employee provides clerical assistance or duties assigned by the supervisor or provider for efficient operation of clinic operations.

 Integrate the teambuilding initiative at county level by committing to promote teamwork by being a positive team member, encouraging and assisting others, and identifying solutions to issues as they arise.

Other essential function of the position is an attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to patients, working as a team member, functioning under intense pressure and responding in a timely manner to supervisors and providers.

Experience, Education, Professional Certificates

• High School or GED
• Pass Tennessee Language Center Institute for Public Services Medical Interpreter Assessment Exam.
