Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Location: Orlando, FL United States
Job Description:
Tetra Tech currently has an opening for an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer with 6 to 15 years of experience to lead the design, development, and commissioning of electrical and PLC/SCADA control systems for municipal water and wastewater facilities. This role will serve as a technical lead to oversee control system architecture, instrumentation design, and system integration while supporting clients in the Florida market.
Primary Responsibilities: • Create electrical system design documents including equipment specifications, single line diagrams, and conduit and cable design. • Create control systems design documents including P&IDs, loop drawings, I/O wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and installation details, using MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and Visio. • Ability to design control system network architectures, including Ethernet IP, fiber optics, network switches, routers, and firewalls. (Optional) • Review and approve project drawings and documents to ensure they meet company and client specifications. • Evaluate and understand electrical and control system drawings, using knowledge of industrial control systems, 4-20mA, HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer Protocol), and Fieldbus. • Redline technical drawings and documents. • Adhere to NEC (National Electric Code), ANSI (American National Standards Institute), ISA (International Society of Automation), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and OSHA codes. • Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drops, and short circuit analysis. • Prepare cost estimates, project status reports and project timelines. • Perform and support FAT (factory acceptance test), IO checkout, loop tests, functional tests, and SAT (site acceptance test).
Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline or related technical degree is preferred. • 6-15 years of related instrumentation and controls experience. • Professional Engineer license in Florida or ability to attain reciprocity in 60 days is preferred. • Ability and willingness to travel is required. Approximately 25% over night travel may be required to support startup and troubleshooting activities.
