Information Technology (IT) Risk Examiner (Remote in Virginia)

Starting Salary Range: $63,000-$85,000

The Virginia State Corporation Commission"s (SCC) Bureau of Financial Institutions (BFI) seeks an Information Technology (IT) Risk Examiner to conduct examinations of the information technology operations of state-chartered financial institutions (banks, credit unions, and mortgage companies). IT examination work takes place on-site at financial institutions located within the Commonwealth of Virginia and requires up to 25% travel. An IT Risk Examiner may reside anywhere in Virginia and works four 10-hour days Monday through Thursday. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Use regulatory guidance and prescribed procedures within the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) IT Examination Handbook to examine all aspects of IT including data security, cybersecurity, electronic payment systems, business continuity planning, project management, and third-party risk management
• Work closely with SCC bank, credit union, and mortgage company examiners performing financial examinations of the state-chartered financial institutions, as well as working alongside federal agencies including the Federal Reserve, FDIC, and NCUA
• Evaluate compliance with Federal and Virginia laws
• Document the work and prepare written comments for inclusion in an examination report for both BFI and financial institutions management
• Attend formal training in the information technology field

Additional Responsibilities for Senior IT Examiner (Pay Grade 11):

• Manage the examination of complex and large IT departments
• Identify risk and determine IT examination scope
• Coach, assign, and review the work of IT examiners
