The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and experienced HR Compliance Analyst to help advance our HR compliance governance program and foster a compliant, people-first workplace. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to partner across Employee Relations, Legal, Payroll, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, HR Support Services, and other key stakeholders to help ensure regulatory requirements are effectively assessed, implemented, monitored, and sustained across the HR function.

 

As a trusted partner and advisor, you'll leverage your experience in HR compliance, governance, audit, risk management, or related disciplines to navigate complex regulatory requirements, support enterprise-wide compliance initiatives, and drive continuous improvement. You'll play a critical role in strengthening accountability, enhancing operational effectiveness, and helping the organization proactively identify and address compliance risks in an evolving regulatory environment.

 

This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or in a hybrid capacity.  Candidates must be based in the New England region and available to travel to the Worcester office as needed for team meetings, business needs, and other in-person events that support collaboration and connection. Supported by Hanover's flexible work arrangements and guided by our CARE values, you'll join a collaborative team where you can expand your expertise, build strong cross-functional relationships, and make a meaningful impact across the organization. THIS IS A FULL-TIME, EXEMPT ROLE. 

Position Overview:

The HR Compliance Analyst plays a key role in advancing Hanover's HR compliance governance program. This position partners across Human Resources to help identify, monitor, assess, and track compliance obligations while supporting effective governance, risk management, and accountability practices.

The HR Compliance Analyst serves as a key partner across Legal and HR functions including Employee Relations, Payroll, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, HR Support Services, and external compliance resources. To promote a proactive and sustainable approach to compliance. Through cross-functional collaboration, analysis, reporting, process improvement, the successful candidate will ensure compliance requirements are vetted, owned, monitored, and executed consistently across HR.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

Compliance Coordination & Implementation Support

  • Coordinate review of regulatory changes with impacted HR functions and Legal, as needed.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions to clarify ownership, responsibilities, implementation plans.
  • Support the development and distribution of compliance guidance, communications, and resources.
  • Monitor compliance-related training requirements, ownership, and completion to support compliance readiness.
  • Track implementation activities, key milestones, and outstanding actions to ensure timely completion of compliance-related obligations.

Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance Intelligence

  • Manage HR compliance vendor relationships and external resources to support regulatory monitoring, compliance intelligence, and readiness.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and identify potential impacts across HR functions.
  • Administer Employee Relations-owned compliance programs and reporting requirements.
  • Review, update, and maintain HR policies, standards, and related documentation in response to regulatory changes, business needs, and external developments.

Compliance Governance & Reporting

  • Maintain the HR compliance inventory, including regulatory requirements, ownership, key controls, and governance documentation.
  • Monitor compliance obligations, implementation status, and emerging risks. Identify and elevate potential gaps or concerns.
  • Facilitate compliance reviews and support tracking of key priorities and action items.
  • Prepare dashboards, scorecards, and compliance reporting for HR leadership.
  • Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, enterprise risk reviews, and compliance assessments by coordinating documentation, evidence collection, and stakeholder preparation.

Process Improvement & Operational Effectiveness

  • Identify opportunities to enhance compliance tracking, reporting, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support HR teams in simplifying or automating compliance-related activities.
  • Maintain compliance tools, templates, and supporting resources that support compliance governance and program management.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgement and attention to detail while managing multiple priorities under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of diverse Human Resources, Compliance, HR Operations, Employee Relations, Payroll, Benefits, HR Technology, or related experience.
  • Under minimal supervision, supports HR compliance governance activities and helps HR partners comply with and administer policies, programs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience coordinating projects, programs, or compliance-related activities involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exercises independent judgment within established guidelines to resolve routine and moderately complex issues and escalate matters requiring policy interpretation or strategic direction.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Acts as a resource for those with less experience and supports the sharing of compliance-related knowledge and best practices.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of HR processes, programs, and compliance requirements across multiple HR disciplines.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting employment, labor, payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, or HR compliance programs.
  • Experience coordinating audits, governance activities, risk assessments, or compliance reviews.
  • Experience working with compliance tracking tools, reporting systems, or governance platforms.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and supporting implementation of technology solutions.
  • Experience partnering with Legal, Employee Relations, HR Shared Services, and other HR Centers of Excellence.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this role may vary based on geographic location and other factors, including merit or performance, demonstrated proficiency, skills for the role, education, travel requirements, and experience. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus (which could take the form of a general bonus, sales incentive, or short-term incentive), long-term incentive or spot recognition awards. The posted range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
