What this job involves:
The HSE Specialist is a key member of the Property and Asset Management team and is part of a small team that manages the HSSE program for JLL's nation wide portfolio. Periodic travel may be required to various sites to investigate events or situations, as well as travel to various meetings (estimated 10% to 20% travel).
This is a fixed-term contract until the end of November 2026.
What your day-to-day will look like:

Support JLL's Canadian operations in achieving HSE goals by developing and continuously improve HSE culture across property management teams.

Support the operation teams to identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage and/or adverse effects to the environment using appropriate HSE standards, best management practices, and analytical techniques.

Ensure that accidents, injuries, near misses, good catches, and other events are captured, and the data is managed and reported. Support adoption and usage by the Markets Property Management team of JLL’s global accident & incident management system.

Participate with operating sites as needed to lead/support HSE investigations, analyze causal factors, support/track the implementation of effective corrective actions, and prepare communications to share lessons learned across the operations.

Coordinate reporting with workers compensation boards, internal HR partners, property management teams, and employees. Support proactive return-to-work program and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Support JLL site’s operations to meet and exceed regulatory requirements compliance.

Partner with JLL HSE leadership and work with existing policies, tools, and resources to develop, implement, and manage business-specific documentation related to the HSE management system (playbooks, procedures, guidelines, etc.) and records required by JLL, applicable regulations, and the client.

Support deployment and tracking of JLL employee training requirements.

Participate in onboarding of new properties/team members and implement JLL HSE requirements during transition activities.

Review and analyze multi-sourced data to prepare status reports and presentations.

Continuously improve the environmental and H&S management system. Perform gap analysis and audits against multiple source requirements (legal and internal), identify improvement opportunities and track non-compliances to closure.

Support the HSSEQ Americas and Global teams in rolling out new compliance and best management practices programs across the Markets Property Management team.

Support operation and ESG teams to roll out relevant programs and support pursuit and maintenance of relevant building certifications (eg Boma Best).
Required Qualifications
-
8-10+ years of experience in a HSSE role.

Broad-based knowledge of environmental, safety and occupational health regulations across Canada.

Experience in managing and mitigating HSE risks related to operations.

Experience in coordinate reporting with workers compensation boards

Rigorous, structured, and analytical mind.
-
Ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to extract and clearly communicate key messages to peers, operations teams, executive leadership, and clients.

Creative problem-solving skills, global thinking and ability to employ intelligent flexibility with pragmatic solutioning.

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual French-English preferred.

Post Secondary degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental risk management, or relevant field

Relevant professional certification(s) a plus.
Estimated compensation for this position:
100,000.00 – 120,000.00 CAD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
