About the Department:
The Office of Marketing and Communications within University Life, supports the division's efforts to engage all of the Mason community.
About the Position:
The Graphic Designer will work as part of a team comprised of marketing and communications professionals and reports to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications within University Life Marketing and Communications. This is a part-time, hourly wage position.
Responsibilities:
- Design high-quality print and digital deliverables for University Life events/campaigns/programming/etc.;
- Contribute to the development and execution of a unit social media plan; and
- Develop content for university communications channels.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with print and publication design;
- Ability to generate original concepts and execute them from start to finish;
- Direct experience with final preparation and packaging of print materials;
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Bridge/Lightroom);
- Experience with operating a DSLR camera;
- Experience with photography editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite Lightroom, Camera Raw, etc.;
- Experience with multiple photo editing techniques;
- Knowledge of CMYK, RGB, and PMS color grids;
- Ability to provide a portfolio or samples online;
- Working knowledge of social media management and implementation (Instagram, X, YouTube, Hootsuite);
- Ability to work in an office in a Mac environment;
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated organizational management and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to accurately and efficiently meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities;
- Proven ability to thrive in a team-oriented workplace; and
- Ability to work occasional weekends or evenings to support departmental events, orientations, and/or information sessions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in marketing project management;
- Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, and more;
- Demonstrated experience with project management platforms; and
- Ability to be present at Mason’s Fairfax campus as needed by supervisors.
