About the Role
Title: Full-Stack Software Engineer
Location: Belfast Northern Ireland GB
Job Description:
We are looking for a Full-stack Software Engineer to join our Belfast office and help build software for Digital Catapult's projects, from digital twin environments for the UK Digital Twin Centre to the platforms behind our AI assurance testbed programmes. You will work across frontend, backend and deployment alongside a Lead Software Engineer in Belfast, on real production systems and rapid prototypes.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (Duties)
- Build web frontends, backend services and APIs in TypeScript across a variety of projects.
- Contribute to design and technical decisions, from rapid prototypes to production platforms.
- Write tested, documented, secure code and review your colleagues' work.
- Deploy and run what you build using CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes on Azure.
- Work with designers, researchers, product owners and client stakeholders to turn requirements into working software.
- Grow your skills in a team that uses generative AI tooling and emerging technologies day to day.
Requirements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Experience)
- Professional software development in TypeScript/JavaScript, frontend and backend.
- A modern frontend framework such as React, plus backend services and APIs backed by databases.
- Agile delivery with source control, code review and automated testing.
- Some exposure to CI/CD and containers (Docker); Kubernetes or Azure is a bonus.
- Clear communicator, comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Interest in generative AI tooling and emerging technologies such as digital twins.
Salary: c. £40,000-50,000 pa (subject to experience) + discretionary bonus + competitive benefits package
