About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Fintech Career Specialist's priorities will be to support Greenwood Project scholars toward various career pathways in the Fintech ecosystem, including software engineering, operations, risk management, proprietary trading, and product management. This Coach will support the design and development of effective systems to prepare students for summer internships in these roles, with the goal of students achieving full-time job offers. The Fintech Career Specialist ensures students are sufficiently prepared with professional skills, role-specific technical knowledge and understanding to support their job performance during their summer internships. The Fintech Career Specialist will manage a cohort of college students, supporting them through various methods, including but not limited to 1:1 coaching, small group development sessions, large group professional development, online coursework, and on-site events. As a member of the Greenwood Project Team and a key driver of student experience and success, the Fintech Career Specialist will additionally support the development of our learning pathways and roadmaps, curriculum, evaluation tools, and other key impact measures. Key Responsibilities
- Support and coach a cohort of Greenwood Project scholars through hybrid, virtual, and in-person programming to secure a junior-year internship that serves as a stepping stone toward a full-time role in the industry. g into a full-time role in the industry.
- Evaluate and track scholar success on internal rubrics and roadmaps tailored to various career paths in Fintech and financial services.
- Collect, track, and manage data relevant to the performance of students and regularly wrap up and report out that data to the team and other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee systems for student support that are grounded in best practices for coaching and cohort development.
- Research and understand best practices from organizations across sectors and use insights to support the continual improvement of coaching and cohort procedures and experiences.
- Manage and develop scholar relationships that support retention and success through their lifecycle in the Greenwood Project program.
- Support the strategic build-out of the program, including planning for scaling systems and structures for student development and internship success.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Strong emphasis will be placed on the following key experiences and role-related skills:
- Completed bachelor's degree or equivalent. Master's Degree preferred. Relevant subject areas preferred (Computer Science, Information Systems, Financial Technology, Data Science, or related fields).
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the Fintech sector or other technology roles within Financial Services (e.g., prop trading, software engineering, payments, blockchain, trading systems,
- Understanding of the Fintech ecosystem within financial services, including payment rails, core banking systems, data pipelines, blockchain/digital assets, and/or related technologies.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and think critically about the intersections between identity and job performance.
- Ability to design feedback loops and protocols related to improving job performance.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and on a team to align programs or products to meet the needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- Ability to design systems to track and monitor data; strong Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written, and the ability to tailor presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Desire to operate in a start-up environment
- Strong ethics and integrity, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct.
- Ability to occasionally attend some evening or weekend events.

Compensation and Benefits
We are based in Chicago but this role offers the possibility of remote work. The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $115,000 annually, commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package includes employee health care, dental and vision coverage, disability insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan and generous paid time off.
