Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Manager – Tax to support U.S. tax operations within a complex, multi-entity environment.

This role partners closely with senior tax leadership and external advisors to ensure accurate, timely tax compliance and reporting. The position is ideal for a tax professional who thrives in a structured, accountable environment and can independently manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • include overseeing federal, state, and local income tax compliance; supporting quarterly and annual tax provision processes under ASC 740
  • managing tax-related financial reporting and reconciliations; and coordinating closely with an external tax advisory firm to review deliverables, manage information requests, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • This individual will also monitor state tax requirements, track tax account activity and payments, support audit inquiries, and maintain organized tax calendars and documentation.
  • Additional responsibilities include contributing to process improvements, supporting internal controls in a SOX environment, and building effective cross-functional relationships across accounting and finance teams. Limited international indirect tax exposure may be involved.
  • The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, particularly in state and local taxation, and is comfortable operating in a role that requires organization, analytical thinking, and the ability to determine priorities with minimal oversight. This is a highly specialized tax role and is not suited for a general finance background.

Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with ASC 740 tax provision
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance

  • Ability to manage external tax advisors or outsourced providers
  • Accounting or Finance degree required
  • Preferred:
    • CPA (active, inactive, or in progress)
    • Public accounting background (Big 4 or large regional firm)
    • Exposure to VAT/GST or international indirect taxes
