About the Opportunity
A growing specialty insurance organization is seeking an experienced E&S Program Underwriter to join its underwriting team. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite complex and unique risks across a diverse portfolio of delegated authority and program business while contributing to the profitable growth of a rapidly expanding platform.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong underwriting background, experience within the E&S market, and the ability to effectively manage broker and program administrator relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal E&S program business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority
- Evaluate complex commercial risks and determine appropriate pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions
- Manage portfolios across multiple specialty classes and industry segments
- Monitor program performance, profitability, premium growth, and loss trends
- Analyze underwriting results and recommend strategy adjustments when necessary
- Build and maintain strong relationships with program administrators, MGAs, brokers, and carrier partners
- Collaborate with actuarial, claims, compliance, and product development teams
- Participate in program audits, stewardship meetings, and portfolio reviews
- Identify opportunities for profitable growth within existing and new program partnerships
- Maintain a thorough understanding of market conditions, competitive trends, and emerging risks
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience
- Experience underwriting E&S business, delegated authority business, or specialty program business preferred
- Strong understanding of underwriting principles, pricing methodologies, and portfolio management
- Ability to analyze complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions
- Excellent relationship management and business development skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
- Experience working with MGAs, MGUs, program managers, or carrier program business is highly desirable
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- CPCU, AU, or other industry designations are a plus
