About the Role
Title: Entertainment Editor
Location: Surry Hills NSW 2010 Australia
Job Description:
Pedestrian Group, Nine’s youth-focused brand, connects with millions of young Australians through diverse content in culture, tech, gaming, fashion, and more. By joining us you will work with and learn from the brightest minds to create ground breaking content that pushes boundaries and enables young Aussies to feel seen, informed, entertained and understood.
We’re on the hunt for a pop culture-obsessed mastermind to lead our entertainment coverage as our next Entertainment Editor. This isn't just about knowing who's who; it's about understanding why our audience cares. You'll be the driving force behind our celebrity, reality TV, and film & TV content, shaping the daily conversation for millions of young Aussies. You're the person whose group chat is always popping off with the latest tea, and you're ready to bring that energy to our site.
Day to day you will:
- Own and drive the entertainment vertical, setting the editorial agenda for celebrity, reality TV, and film and TV coverage.
- Secure and execute A+ content around key access opportunities, including junkets, red carpets, and exclusive interviews.
- Analyse performance data to inform content strategy and stay one step ahead of the trends.
- Write sharp, funny, and insightful articles while also being the face of our coverage on camera for video and social media.
- Meticulously forward-plan content for cultural moments while having the reflexes to jump on breaking news.
- Commission brilliant, on-brand content from a network of freelance writers to expand our voice.
Qualifications
What you'll bring:
- Prior experience as an Entertainment Editor or Senior Writer ready for the next step.
- Encyclopaedic knowledge of pop culture, living and breathing reality TV, celebrity drama, and emerging trends.
- A killer writing ability with a distinct, hilarious, and engaging voice that perfectly matches the PEDESTRIAN.TV tone.
- Experience using analytics (e.g., Google Analytics, Parsley) to make informed editorial decisions.
- Charisma and confidence on camera, with a desire to build your profile as an entertainment expert.
- Being 'extremely online', with a finger on the pulse of what's trending on TikTok, X, and Instagram.
- A team-player mentality with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple chaotic deadlines.
