Cities & Places
At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.
Your impact
At Client Deliverables Solutions (CDS), we bring clarity, consistency, and creativity to the work our teams deliver at Jacobs. Our document publishing experts help transform technical content into professional, accessible, and visually cohesive publications that tell the story of the world changing projects we support. From regulatory submittals and project reports to work planning documents and complex multivolume deliverables, CDS partners with project teams to produce high quality deliverables that reflect our commitment to excellence.
We're seeking a talented, detail driven Document Publisher to join our North America team in a hybrid capacity. If you live within 50 miles of a Jacobs office, this means you'll work on site two days per week and from home three days per week. In this role, you'll collaborate with publishing colleagues, project managers, technical authors, and designers to structure, refine, and finalize documents that meet both Jacobs' brand standards and client specific requirements. You'll apply strong formatting expertise, proactive communication, and a commitment to quality to ensure every deliverable is accurate, polished, and ready for production.
Please Note: this is not an editing, writing, or graphic design role. This position is focused on document formatting, production, and publishing workflows.
As an intermediate level Document Publisher, you'll handle documents throughout their full lifecycle, from setup and formatting through quality control, production, and delivery. You'll help manage multiple concurrent deliverables, troubleshoot formatting issues, and contribute to the team's processes, tools, and best practices.
Key Skill Sets:
- Document development and collaboration experience: Supporting materials through the full development cycle, from initial setup to final client submittal, while working directly with authors, project managers, editors, designers, and other publishers. This work requires the ability to manage multiple moving parts, coordinate contributions from various team members, and communicate clearly through strong written and verbal skills, including asking clarifying questions and proactively sharing updates.
- Microsoft Word: Skilled with styles based formatting, applying templates, creating custom templates, section breaks, page setup, tables, cross references, layout, headers/footers, and troubleshooting formatting issues.
- Microsoft Excel: Ability to format sheets, apply basic formulas, build tables, and create simple charts and graphs.
- Microsoft PowerPoint: Comfortable applying templates, formatting slides, and aligning content visually.
- PDF & Publishing Tools: Experience preparing, editing, and optimizing PDFs using Acrobat, including bookmarks, headers/footers, page adjustments, and file compression. Familiarity with additional PDF tools (e.g., PDF XChange Editor) and basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign or Illustrator is a plus.
- Technical Tools and Platforms: Working knowledge of digital workspaces such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, or similar platforms. Ability to follow established processes, apply brand guidelines, and use publishing checklists, templates, and quick reference guides.
Bring your organizational superpowers, your love of clean formatting, and your appreciation for collaborative problem solving, and we'll help you grow your skills, expand your impact, and build a meaningful career shaping how we communicate our work to the world.
