Position Summary
The Director of Procurement will serve as the central hub for procurement across all client sites and raw material operations. This role is the organization’s global procurement leader, responsible for developing and executing a unified sourcing strategy across multiple manufacturing facilities.
The Director of Procurement will ensure the reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply of raw materials, packaging, and production inputs supporting a diverse product portfolio. This position will establish the foundation of a global procurement function, building systems, supplier partnerships, and governance frameworks that drive efficiency, compliance, and long-term value creation.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and execute a global sourcing strategy across raw materials, production inputs, and packaging.
- Identify, qualify, and manage preferred suppliers across regions to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
- Lead supplier contract negotiations, including framework agreements and multi-site supply coverage.
- Establish and maintain supplier performance metrics for cost, quality, delivery, and risk.
- Implement supplier risk mitigation plans addressing supply continuity, regulatory requirements, and geopolitical exposure.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Operational Integration
- Partner with Production Scheduling, Logistics, R&D, Regulatory, and Quality teams to align procurement with demand forecasts and operational priorities.
- Act as a key interface between procurement, engineering, and finance to optimize working capital and cost structure.
- Integrate procurement systems and supplier contracts, harmonizing materials and pricing across facilities.
- Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to support production and fulfillment commitments.
Cost, Value, and Sustainability Optimization
- Lead enterprise-wide cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
- Source and qualify alternative materials and suppliers to enhance competitiveness and supply resilience.
- Embed sustainability principles into sourcing strategies, including organic and regenerative input standards.
- Quantify and report cost savings, cost avoidance, and total procurement value delivered.
Systems, Reporting, and Governance
- Establish standardized procurement policies, supplier approval processes, and contract management frameworks.
- Implement spend analytics and visibility tools to support data-driven decision making.
- Develop supplier scorecards and executive dashboards for procurement performance.
- Ensure supplier compliance with regulatory, ethical, and corporate sourcing standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related technical field
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred
- 10+ years of progressive procurement or supply chain leadership in manufacturing environments
- Experience managing raw material and packaging sourcing across multi-site operations
- Proven success in supplier negotiations, contract management, and cost-reduction initiatives
- Experience integrating procurement systems during M&A or multi-site expansion
- Familiarity with chemical, biological, or agricultural input industries
- Expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier risk mitigation
- Strong command of ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent) and procurement analytics tools
- Advanced skills in spend analysis, cost modeling, and KPI dashboards
- Knowledge of sustainability, traceability, and organic/regenerative sourcing requirements
- Understanding of global supply chain risk factors including logistics, currency, and compliance
- High integrity, collaborative leadership style with strong influence skills
- Effective communicator and negotiator
- Ability to operate strategically while building systems and processes from the ground up
- Results-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
