Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS) is seeking a Director of Philanthropy. The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for leading and executing fundraising strategies that support the mission and priorities of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS). This role focuses on
cultivating and strengthening relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations to increase philanthropic support for VOANS programs and initiatives. This is hybrid role. Proudly Great Place to Work® Certified for 8 consecutive years.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
• Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support VOANS priorities and initiatives.
• Partner with VOANS leadership to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
• Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, including ongoing relationship development and stewardship activities.
• Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, donor events, and engagement opportunities.
• Support the development of grant proposals, donor presentations, and fundraising materials.
• Monitor fundraising performance metrics and provide regular reporting on development activities and outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to diversify funding sources and expand philanthropic support.
• Stay informed on fundraising trends, donor engagement strategies, and philanthropic best practices.
Development Operations & Administration
• Oversee day-to-day development operations, including donor tracking, gift processing coordination, and stewardship activities.
• Ensure fundraising activities comply with organizational policies, ethical fundraising standards, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate donor records and support reporting needs related to fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with finance staff to support proper allocation and tracking of donated funds.
• Assist with development planning, budgeting, and annual fundraising goals.
Collaboration & Communications
• Work closely with VOA Inc. to ensure there is coordination and no crossover of activities.
• Work closely with communications and marketing staff to develop donor-focused messaging and fundraising materials.
• Support implementation of consistent branding and storytelling within fundraising initiatives.
• Collaborate with program and operational leaders to identify funding priorities and opportunities for donor engagement.
• Represent VOANS professionally with donors, partners, and community stakeholders.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Work cross-functionally with service line leaders to align funding strategies with operational needs.
• Support leadership and board engagement in fundraising activities.
• Provide regular reporting on fundraising progress, pipeline, and outcomes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible fundraising or development experience, including experience with major gifts, corporate giving, and foundation relations.
• Demonstrated success cultivating and securing five- and six-figure gifts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and donor correspondence writing.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage donors, staff, and community stakeholders effectively.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and development operations.
• Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising software systems preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to organizational goals.
• Occasional travel and flexible hours may be required.
