JOB SUMMARY

 

 

The Director, Partnerships & Commercial Strategy leads the Canadian Paralympic Committee's Partnerships and Business Development functions, driving revenue growth, strengthening partner value, and advancing CPC's strategic priorities through innovative commercial opportunities.

 

 

Reporting to the Chief Commercial & Impact Officer, the Director provides strategic leadership across partnership portfolio management, business development, and commercial strategy. This role leads a high-performing team responsible for delivering exceptional partner experiences, securing sustainable revenue growth, and maximizing the value of CPC's commercial assets.

 

 

The Director is also responsible for shaping CPC's commercial strategy and identifying opportunities that create value for athletes, partners, supporters, and the broader Paralympic Movement. Working collaboratively across CPC and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada, the Director helps transform strategic priorities into innovative initiatives that drive impact, engagement, and investment, creating opportunities for partners to directly enhance and amplify the Power of Para Sport.

 

 

Type: Full-time

 

Salary: $110,000-$145,000 annually plus benefits

 

Location: Remote within Canada, with travel to CPC head office in Ottawa for occasional in-person meetings.

 

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Partnerships Leadership, Portfolio Growth & Renewal Strategy

 


  • Provide leadership and direction to the Partnerships team across partnership servicing, engagement, and activation.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada to strengthen alignment across commercial functions, foster an open, innovative, and collaborative culture, and maximize commercial opportunities.

  • Provide leadership to the Manager, Partnerships and Account Manager, Partnerships in developing renewal and growth strategies for partners. Lead complex negotiations and support the development of proposals and opportunities that grow, sustain, and deepen partner investment and engagement.

  • Build and maintain senior-level partner relationships, actively seeking out connections and engagement opportunities.

 

Business Development Leadership

 


  • Lead CPC's business development strategy and pipeline to achieve partnership revenue targets.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Senior Manager, Business Development.

  • Provide strategic leadership and support for major partnership pursuits, commercial negotiations, and high-value revenue opportunities.

Commercial Strategy, Athlete Engagement & Strategic Initiatives

 


  • Support the Chief Commercial & Impact Officer in shaping CPC's commercial strategy, ensuring partnership opportunities, commercial assets, and revenue-generating initiatives align with CPC's strategic priorities and athlete strategy.

  • In collaboration with the Systems & Services team, lead the development and implementation of CPC's Athlete Commercial Strategy, strengthening athlete integration, commercial readiness, storytelling opportunities, and partner engagement.

  • Identify, develop, and lead commercial initiatives that leverage CPC's unique assets and strategic priorities of Best Prepared Teams and Power of Para Sport to create value for partners, generate new investment, and advance organizational objectives. This may include athlete and sport integration, marketing and content opportunities, Games-related initiatives, and social impact programs, delivered in collaboration with teams across CPC and the Paralympic Foundation of Canada.

Team Leadership & Operations

 


  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Partnerships and Business Development team, fostering a high-performing and commercially focused culture.

  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across the function.

  • Lead annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the Partnerships & Commercial Strategy function.

  • Contribute to organizational planning and decision-making as a member of CPC's leadership team.

QUALIFICATIONS

 


  • 8+ years of progressive experience in partnerships, sponsorship, business development, commercial strategy, or related disciplines.

  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or equivalent professional experience.

  • Demonstrated success managing partnership portfolios, commercial growth, and strategic renewals.

  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

  • Experience working with senior executives and managing complex stakeholder relationships.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and project leadership abilities.

  • Experience developing athlete-centred commercial opportunities and working with athletes, athlete representatives, agents, or talent managers is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience developing commercial opportunities via social and digital platforms is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience developing, delivering, and measuring social impact programs, and applying social impact frameworks and theory of change, is considered a strong asset.

  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

 


  • Remote work environment, with the successful candidate working primarily from within Canada and attending the office as needed.

  • The CPC head office is currently located in Ottawa, Ontario.

  • Staff based outside Ottawa will be expected to travel to Ottawa a few times each year, or as required by the role.

  • Overnight and international travel, as well as off-site work, will be required for Games, site visits, events, and meetings.

  • Evening and weekend work will be required during busy periods, including Games and other special events
