About The Role

The Director of Environmental, Health & Safety Operations reports to the VP of QHSE and is responsible for leading the execution of Solar Landscape's environmental, health, and safety programs across a growing portfolio of commercial rooftop solar projects.

This role partners closely with Construction, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, and subcontractor partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, responsibly, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards. The Director will drive a proactive safety culture, strengthen field processes, oversee compliance programs, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on field engagement.

Responsibilities

EHS Operations & Compliance

• Lead day-to-day execution of Environmental, Health & Safety programs across all project sites.


• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, environmental regulations, and company standards.


• Conduct site audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.


• Partner with project teams to identify and mitigate operational risks.


• Support contractor and subcontractor prequalification and performance management.

 

Safety Leadership

• Drive a proactive safety culture through leadership, coaching, and field engagement.


• Oversee key safety programs, including fall protection, electrical safety, and LOTO.


• Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.


• Promote consistent application of Stop Work Authority and Life-Saving Rules.

Environmental Managemen

• Oversee environmental compliance programs, including waste management, recycling, stormwater controls, and spill prevention.


• Support ESG initiatives and environmental reporting efforts.


• Promote sustainable construction practices and environmental awareness throughout the organization.


 

Training & Development

• Develop and deliver EHS training and competency programs.


• Mentor and develop EHS team members.


• Coach field leaders and subcontractors on EHS expectations and accountability.

 

Systems & Continuous Improvement

• Track and analyze EHS performance metrics and trends.


• Manage EHS reporting systems, dashboards, and compliance records.


• Partner with the VP of QHSE to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.


• 8+ years of EHS experience within construction, EPC, renewable energy, utilities, or related industries.


• 3+ years of leadership experience managing multi-site safety programs and teams.


• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926/1910, NFPA 70E, NEC, and environmental regulations.


• Experience supporting large-scale construction or renewable energy projects.


• Demonstrated success improving safety performance and driving safety culture initiatives.


• Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.


• Experience working with contractors and subcontractors in dynamic construction environments.


• Ability to travel regularly to project sites nationwide.

 

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)


• Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST)


• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)


• OSHA 30 Construction


• NFPA 70E


• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification

$145,000 - $190,000 a year

Salary will vary depending on your location and job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive-based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
