Job Description

ROLE

The Director, Digital Production is responsible for the operational leadership, production management, and post-production strategy supporting A+E's Digital Content organization. This role oversees the production of original short-form digital content while providing leadership across post-production operations, finishing, delivery, and technical production workflows.

The Director serves as the primary production and post-production leader for Digital Content, ensuring projects are properly planned, resourced, produced, finished, and delivered in alignment with creative objectives, audience goals, and business priorities. The role leads through Production Managers, Producers, Coordinators, and post-production specialists, establishing clear workflows, accountability structures, and operational standards that enable teams to execute efficiently and consistently.

The Director partners closely with Creative, Editorial, Production Operations, Technology, and senior leadership to maintain scalable post-production infrastructure and delivery workflows that support a growing volume of content.

This role is responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies, workflows, and production solutions that improve efficiency, quality, scalability, and collaboration across the organization. The Director continuously evaluates industry trends, emerging tools, AI-enabled workflows, and technical innovations to ensure A+E remains operationally effective and future-focused.

This position requires a leader who can balance creative needs, technical requirements, operational efficiency, and business priorities while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide operational leadership and strategic oversight for Digital Production and Brand Studio Post, ensuring content is properly planned, produced, finished, and delivered across platforms.
  • Lead and performance-manage Production Managers, Asset Manager, Coordinators, and post-production teams, ensuring strong ownership, prioritization, accountability, and talent development across teams.
  • Oversee post-production operations, finishing, delivery, asset management, and quality control standards, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across workflows.
  • Serve as the primary production and post-production partner to Creative, Digital Content, Editorial, Production Operations, Technology, and senior leadership, aligning production capabilities with business and content priorities.
  • Drive workflow optimization, technical innovation, and adoption of new production technologies, AI-enabled tools, and operational solutions to improve efficiency, collaboration, and scalability.
  • Oversee resource planning and production capacity across Digital Production and Brand Studio Post functions.
  • Champion process improvement, operational consistency, and cross-functional collaboration to improve visibility, efficiency, and predictability across the organization.

BASIC REQUREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in marketing production, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. Experience working with content requiring elevated legal, standards, or reputational oversight.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing production and post-production teams through clear expectations, accountability, and effective talent management.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience partnering with senior leadership, creative teams, editorial teams, and technical partners.
  • Demonstrated expertise in production operations, post-production workflows, resource planning, budget management, and operational risk mitigation.
  • Deep understanding of digital content production, video finishing, asset management, quality control, and multi-platform delivery requirements.
  • Ability to oversee high-volume production environments while balancing competing priorities, deadlines, and business objectives.
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing production technologies, workflow solutions, and emerging tools-including AI-enabled workflows-to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Strong understanding of video codecs, file formats, metadata, media asset management systems, and distribution workflows across digital, social, FAST, and streaming platforms.
  • Experience building and implementing scalable operational processes, delivery standards, and workflow frameworks across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Airtable, media asset management systems, project management tools, and post-production software ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to identify operational gaps, recommend technical solutions, and drive continuous improvement across production and post-production functions.
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, navigate ambiguity, and address issues proactively rather than reactively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Keynote, project management tools, and AI-powered productivity tools such as ChatGPT for drafting, organizing information, and improving workflow efficiency; Airtable or similar workflow tools strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate creative and business objectives into effective production strategies, operational plans, and scalable execution models.
