Job Description:
Corner Alliance is a dynamic, growing consulting firm that devotes itself to providing an enriching employee experience while working in meaningful ways to create results for the government. We are currently seeking a Databricks Consultant with 6+ years of experience to join our growing team of economists and fully embrace our commitment to deliver, grow and thrive.
**Note: This role is a 1099 Contractor Position expected to begin in October for ~80 hrs/month for the duration of two months
About the Role:
Corner Alliance is supporting our federal government clients by delivering high-impact economic and policy analysis related to broadband, spectrum, and next-generation communications technologies. Our team provides expertise in financial modeling, spectrum valuation, and socio-economic impact evaluation to help inform national policy and investment decisions. You will be trusted to lead the technical design and development of a Databricks-based analytics and dashboard prototype. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Python, SQL, Spark/PySpark, and Delta Lake, along with the ability to develop interactive analytical dashboards, build reliable data pipelines, and create reusable analytical workflows.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Lead the design and development of a Databricks-based dashboard prototype, translating economist-developed requirements, data models, KPIs, and analytical use cases into functional technical capabilities.
- Design and implement scalable data ingestion, transformation, integration, and quality-control workflows for publicly available broadband, demographic, economic, labor, and geographic datasets.
- Develop interactive dashboard functionality supporting maps, geographic comparisons, trend analysis, filters, KPI summaries, socioeconomic indicators, and downloadable outputs.
- Build and maintain structured analytical datasets using Python, SQL, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, and Databricks workflows, with appropriate metadata, lineage, versioning, and reproducibility.
- Translate program and policy questions into technically feasible data products, visualizations, queries, and reusable analytical workflows.
- Design and test AI-assisted natural-language querying or data-discovery functionality against curated public datasets and metadata, emphasizing source-grounded responses, transparency, and safeguards against unsupported inference.
- Document system architecture, data pipelines, schemas, transformation logic, data dictionaries, code/configuration artifacts, dependencies, and deployment procedures so prototype functionality can be maintained and transferred.
- Carry out our Commitments to Deliver, Grow, and Thrive.
Location:
Remote.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Geographic Information Science, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software development, business intelligence, or related technical roles.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing production or prototype solutions using Databricks.
- Strong proficiency with Python and SQL, including experience working with Spark/PySpark and large structured datasets.
- Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines, data transformations, data-quality controls, and reusable analytical datasets.
- Demonstrated experience building interactive analytical dashboards, data applications, or business-intelligence solutions from integrated datasets.
- Experience with Git and modern software-development practices, including code review, testing, documentation, and collaborative development.
- Ability to translate analyst, economist, program, and stakeholder requirements into practical technical designs and working functionality.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical decisions, limitations, and dependencies clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and the ability to pass a public trust clearance or suitability determination
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Databricks certification such as Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate/Professional or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- Experience developing applications or dashboards using Databricks Apps, Lakeview/AI/BI dashboards, Streamlit, Plotly, Dash, Power BI, Tableau, or comparable visualization frameworks.
- Experience working with public Federal datasets such as Census/ACS, FCC Broadband Data Collection, NTIA broadband data, BLS, BEA, or similar demographic and economic datasets.
- Familiarity with broadband, telecommunications, infrastructure, economic-development, or Federal grant-program data.
- Experience implementing LLM-enabled analytics, natural-language-to-SQL, retrieval-augmented generation, semantic layers, or AI-assisted data discovery within Databricks or a comparable enterprise data platform.
