Position Title: Fundraising Consultant (Part-Time - contractor or W-2depending on specifics of relationship)
Duration: Initial 3 months
Time Commitment: Part time / 30 hours per week

About EcoAgriculture Partners
EcoAgriculture Partners is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization with over 20 years of experience advancing landscape approaches—a collaborative, cross-sectoral strategy that balances agricultural productivity, ecosystem health, and sustainable rural livelihoods. Through research, policy advocacy, and capacity building, we support stakeholders to co-design and implement integrated solutions at the landscape level.
We provide services and technical support to a diverse range of audiences, including nonprofits, local governments, community-based organizations, and private sector actors—helping them strengthen their contributions to sustainable and inclusive landscape initiatives. A
s the convener of the 1000 Landscapes for 1 Billion People initiative, we work with a global network of partners to advance integrated, participatory approaches to land and resource management.
Objective of the Consultancy
We are currently concluding a strategic planning and values reset, following a period of significant organizational change, which positions us to refine our priorities, strengthen our partnerships, and expand our services in support of more resilient and inclusive landscapes worldwide.
As we enter this next phase, we are seeking an experienced fundraising strategist or consultant to help us develop a focused, actionable fundraising strategy, cultivate new donor relationships, and strengthen the financial sustainability of our programs.
This includes working closely with our team to identify high-potential funding opportunities, strengthen new and existing donor engagement strategies, and support the development of compelling proposals and fundraising materials.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will work collaboratively and in line with our culture and values, partnering with EcoAgriculture’s leadership and relevant program staff to fulfill the responsibilities below.
What we are most looking for in this role is a consultant who can go beyond strategy and materials to actively support the cultivation and closing of new funding opportunities. It is critical they have an existing network and deep experience for donor engagement for this consultancy to be successful. The consultant will be expected to:
1. Donor Engagement & Relationship Development
- Proactively set up meetings with donors—including philanthropic foundations, corporate partners, and major individual donors—leveraging their own networks and ours.
- Make strategic introductions and connections on our behalf, helping build authentic relationships with aligned funders.
- Play a lead role in donor cultivation, including preparing talking points, briefing materials, and tailored follow-up communications.
- Actively work to close funding deals, ensuring promising leads translate into committed, timely support.
- Prioritize opportunities that can generate flexible or core funding, aligned with our evolving strategy and underfunded programs beyond 1000 Landscapes.
2. Fundraising Strategy & Planning
- Review existing fundraising strategies and materials.
- Identify and prioritize short- and medium-term funding opportunities (grants, major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations).
- Conduct donor prospecting research (foundations, private sector, bilateral, and multilateral).
3. Proposal Development & Donor Materials
- Lead or support the writing, editing, and packaging of grant proposals, concept notes, and letters of inquiry (LOIs).
- Coordinate with staff to gather programmatic inputs, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Develop or refine core fundraising collateral (e.g., organizational capability statement, donor one-pagers, pitch decks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record in international nonprofit fundraising, securing multi-million-dollar grants—especially in sectors aligned with landscape/territorial approaches and landscape initiatives, such as environment, community development, sustainable livelihoods, agriculture-focused sectors or cross-sectoral partnerships.
- Strong grant writing skills for both U.S. and international donors.
- Demonstrated success in attracting unrestricted or flexible funding.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and self-management skills.
- Experience working with the private sector and philanthropic foundations, with an active network of contacts.
- Familiarity with research grant processes and opportunities.
