About the Role
Communications & Marketing Manager
Location: Remote in the United States (East Coast preferred)
Reports to: Communications & Marketing Director

Salary Range: $60,000 - $68,000 USD
The Communications and Marketing Manager works closely with the Director of Communications and Marketing to execute our communications and marketing strategy. A majority of their time will be spent spearheading content creation and campaign management, followed by strategic analysis around UX/UI, audience engagement, messaging, and continuous improvement across systems. The role will be essential to elevating our voice, expanding our reach, and telling the powerful stories that fuel our mission. This role must have demonstrated expertise in digital marketing (email, social media (accounts 35k+), Ads), content creation (photos, videos, copywriting), and website management. You’ll work dynamically across LYB’s departments and interact with multiple audiences—from program participants and donors to partners—to ensure consistent, mission-aligned communication across platforms. This candidate must have strong writing skills, be exceptionally organized, and have a creative flair for storytelling. The candidate should be deeply passionate about improving well-being among people affected by brain injury.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy
-
Work closely with the Comms & Marketing Director to create and execute effective communication plans, including determining key messages for priority audiences, tailoring content for each communication channel, and identifying opportunities for increasing visibility through earned media

Create and execute annual calendar for email marketing and social media
Content Creation and Digital Engagement

Produce and manage digital campaigns around program launches, giving days, awareness months, and more

Write and edit compelling content for program and fundraising campaigns, social media posts, website, press releases, etc.

Manage photoshoots by contributing to mood boards, shot lists, participants, and post-production

Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns and initiatives to inform data-driven decisions for future communication strategies

Create graphics, videos, and photo-based content suitable to different channels (social, web, email, ads)

Manage media to ensure assets are logically organized and easy to access
Website & Email Marketing

Maintain and update LoveYourBrain’s website to maximize information communication and acquisition with members and the community at large; collaborate with designers or developers for major updates

Manage email marketing through Campaign Monitor platform; execute and innovate segmentation strategy; manage and optimize subscriber journeys/automations; maintain list hygiene
Social Media Strategy & Management

Collaborate on growing and managing LYB’s presence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, and emerging platforms

Track trends, iterate platform-specific content strategies, and respond to audience engagement

Research and foster relationships with aligned accounts, sharing and developing collaborative content to support growth goals

Monitor analytics, generate reports, and use insights to continuously optimize engagement and growth
Media and Public Relations

Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, industry influencers, and community leaders.

Identify grassroots awareness opportunities and perform necessary research to achieve those goals

Minimum Requirements:
-
At least 4-6 years experience in managing digital communications and marketing for nonprofit programs, preferably involving mindfulness, yoga, or brain health
-
Demonstrated expertise with digital tools including Canva, SquareSpace, Campaign Monitor, Meta Business Suite
-
Strong experience managing social media accounts with 35k+ IG followers and 81k+ Facebook
-
Ability to independently produce creative content (text, image, and video)

Basic design, video editing, and photography skills
-
Knowledge of Google Analytics, SEO best practices, and email marketing metrics
-
Familiarity using AI to refine marketing content and analyze data in support of messaging and campaign performance
-
Excellent written communication skills that effectively engages a range of audiences (i.e., people with TBI, health care professionals, media, general public)

Experience working with Salesforce, Google platform, and Zoom
-
Highly-developed organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
Qualifications and skills that are a plus:

Familiarity with brain injury, trauma-informed settings, yoga, and mindfulness
Physical Requirements:
-
Travel in the US and Canada (by air and car) once every 2-4 months (must have license, passport)

Ability to move equipment during photoshoots

Drive a car
Work Environment:

Ability to effectively work remotely

Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day

Ability to talk over the phone or video conferencing (multiple times a day)

Ability to work over weekends (occasionally)
