Job Summary
The Part-Time Director of Communications at Seven Holy Founders Parish serves as the primary coordinator of parish communications, helping foster awareness, engagement, and connection within the parish community. This position is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies across print, digital, and social media platforms while promoting the mission, ministries, events, and Catholic identity of the parish. The Director works closely with the Pastor, parish staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers to ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication that supports the life and mission of the parish.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive parish communications strategy aligned with the mission and vision of Seven Holy Founders Parish.
- Coordinate communication efforts among the Pastor, parish staff, ministries, organizations, and parish groups.
- Establish and maintain consistent standards for parish messaging, branding, tone, and visual presentation.
- Coordinate, edit, and publish the weekly parish bulletin.
- Gather and organize announcements, articles, event information, photographs, and ministry updates for parish communications.
- Create and distribute parish-wide electronic communications, including email newsletters, announcements, and Flocknote messaging.
- Maintain and regularly update the parish website to ensure information is current, accurate, and accessible.
- Manage and grow the parish's social media presence across platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
- Develop engaging content highlighting parish life, liturgies, ministries, events, volunteer opportunities, and faith formation activities.
- Create promotional materials, including flyers, posters, graphics, postcards, and digital advertisements.
- Attend or coordinate coverage of parish events to obtain photographs and content for parish communications.
- Maintain an organized library of parish photographs, graphics, and communication resources.
- Write and edit articles, announcements, stories, invitations, and other communication materials.
- Promote parish events and initiatives before, during, and after their occurrence.
- Identify and share stories that highlight the impact of parish ministries, parishioners, and outreach efforts.
- Collaborate with parish leadership to determine communication priorities and support ministry promotion efforts.
- Provide communication guidance and support to ministry leaders, staff, and volunteers.
- Ensure all communications reflect the teachings, values, and mission of the Catholic Church and Seven Holy Founders Parish.
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic in good standing who supports the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience managing social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Instagram.
- Experience with website content management and email communication platforms preferred.
- Ability to write clearly, professionally, and effectively for diverse audiences.
- Basic graphic design, photography, and content creation skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
- Familiarity with Catholic terminology, liturgy, and parish life preferred.
