Azure Cloud Architect (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Beachwood, OH (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) - can be remote during contract period

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to lead the design and execution of enterprise cloud initiatives as part of a large-scale Azure transformation. This individual will partner with infrastructure, security, and application teams to architect scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions while helping define the organizations long-term cloud strateg

y.This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for someone who enjoys driving modernization efforts and influencing cloud architecture across the enterprise.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement Azure cloud architecture aligned with business and technical objectives.
• Lead Azure migration and modernization initiatives for on-premises infrastructure and applications.
• Develop secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions following Azure best practices and Well-Architected Framework principles.
• Partner with infrastructure, networking, security, and application development teams to deliver cloud-based solutions.
• Establish governance, standards, and best practices for Azure resource management, security, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Architect identity and access management solutions utilizing Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
• Design networking solutions including Virtual Networks (VNets), ExpressRoute, VPN, private endpoints, and load balancing.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud automation.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and mentoring to engineering teams.
• Evaluate emerging Azure services and recommend improvements to the organizations cloud roadmap

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure and cloud architecture experience.
• 5+ years designing and implementing Microsoft Azure solutions in enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise across Azure IaaS, PaaS, and networking services.
• Experience with:
• Azure Virtual Machines
• Azure Storage
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Azure App Services
• Azure Virtual Network
• Azure Backup & Site Recovery
• Azure Monitor and Log Analytics
• Microsoft Entra ID (AzureAD)
• Experience designing hybrid cloud environments and migration strategies.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, identity, and compliance.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
• Familiarity with PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation tools.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
