We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator who is passionate about teaching in a multidisciplinary, online, and rural-serving program. The successful candidate will teach across multiple modalities, support and mentor diverse students, and contribute to the university through service, community engagement, and support of accreditation activities. Ideal applicants will demonstrate strong communication skills, cultural responsiveness, experience working with Alaska Native or Indigenous communities, and proficiency with distance education technologies.

The Term Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work is a full-time, nine-month, bipartite (teaching and service) faculty position within the University of Alaska Fairbanks, College of liberal Arts, Social Work Program. This role supports the B.A. in Social Work degree, which is delivered through online asynchronous, distance-based Zoom, and hybrid modalities, including our rural-intensive cohort. The successful candidate will be responsible for high-quality instruction across all program modalities; curriculum development and modification for distance delivery; and holding office hours appropriate to the courses taught. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position includes a service component involving participation in departmental, college, and university committees; community and public service activities; support of program accreditation processes; and serving as faculty advisor for at least one student organization.

To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will be a collaborative, student-centered educator with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to teaching Social Work at the university level. They will bring experience with distance-education technologies and an understanding of multicultural and rural social work practice, particularly in ways that align with CSWE accreditation standards. The ideal applicant will be able to make effective decisions under pressure, build and maintain community partnerships, and contribute positively to a diverse and collegial academic team. A commitment to multicultural values, the ability to advocate for the Social Work program and the university, and familiarity with Alaska Native or Indigenous communities are highly valued, with experience in distance teaching strongly preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited program and at least two years of post-MSW professional social work practice in human services, behavioral health, child welfare, or related community-based settings required.

Preferred: Previous university-level teaching or training experience in social work or a closely related discipline. Experience working with Alaska Native, Indigenous, or rural populations, demonstrating cultural competence and community engagement.
