Job Description
The general salary range for this full-time position is $63,400 – 95,200. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
Humane World for Animals, a global leader in animal advocacy and protection, is seeking a Case Manager, Animal Crimes for the Global Animal Rescue Team. In this position you will field and respond to various types of animal welfare concerns and inquiries throughout the United States including puppy mills, animal neglect and animal fighting. Works with law enforcement and animal welfare agencies to address egregious situations of animal cruelty or neglect, with the intent to counsel on best practices for case management and humane solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Fields and responds to complaints of animal cruelty by reaching out to complainants and law enforcement to determine the best course of action to resolve the situation. Evaluates complaints to determine the ideal level of involvement for the Animal Rescue Team (ART) for each case;
• Provides guidance and resources to law enforcement agencies responding to reports of animal cruelty including, but not limited to researching applicable laws, ordinances and case laws, advising law enforcement to take pictures, ask questions, and schedule vet exams and providing templates for compliance orders, cost of care, and surrender forms;
• Builds and maintains crucial relationships with law enforcement and animal welfare agencies including attending, instructing, or tabling at conferences and meetings;
• Maintains database of cruelty complaints;
• Deploys with the Animal Rescue Team to assist in instances of animal cruelty, casework, or disaster response as needed;
• Develops and maintains consistent internal communication with State Affairs and other relevant Humane World for Animals staff on cruelty issues and provides applicable expertise to the Animal Rescue Team;
• Serves as an instructor for law enforcement trainings focused on addressing situations of illegal animal cruelty or neglect;
• Performs other duties or responsibilities, as as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required;
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a humane law enforcement officer required;
• Specialized knowledge of various illegal animal cruelty investigations;
• Ability to travel extensively on short notice to assist in animal rescues and work outside of standard business hours if necessary;
• Working knowledge or experience with NIMS/ICS or commitment to take and pass required courses within six months;
• Animal handling skills and knowledge of animal protection issues, including animal control and shelter experience, particularly animals under stress;
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
• Ability to manage issues requiring problem resolution and conflict management with excellent interpersonal and intervention skills;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence, demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
• Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
This is a US remote position – preferably in Eastern, Central, or Mountain time.
