Overview
A member of Enterprise Risk Analytics team, the Assistant Actuary, Model Governance and Validation, conducts model validation, performs model risk assessments, and contributes to the implementation of an effective global model risk program.
Location: Hybrid work arrangement at RGA's Headquarters in Chesterfield, MO, USA. Relocation allowance may be provided to candidates willing to move to St. Louis, MO.
Key Responsibilities
-
Conduct model validation and perform model risk assessment in accordance with the MRM (Model Risk Management) policy, working in collaboration with functional associates.

Support the evaluation, monitoring, and reporting of overall model risk exposure for RGA, identify trend and mitigation opportunities.

Assist in development of GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) tool for MRM.

Assist in implementation of the global MRM framework and MRM strategy.

Assist in development and implementation of entity specific MRM framework as required by emerging regulatory requirements.
Candidate Requisites
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
-
ASA, ACIA accreditation or equivalent
Preferred:
-
Master’s degree in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Risk Management or Finance
-
Have passed 1 FSA or FCIA exam
Skills & Abilities
-
3+ years of insurance/reinsurance experience
-
2+ years of experience in actuarial modeling and risk management
-
Experience with MS Office, actuarial software (Prophet, AXIS, etc), database software, and programing
-
Advanced investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage to meet the target.

Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well-received
-
Advanced skills in relationship management and change management
-
Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
-
Advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers
Preferred:
-
Experience with model validation and risk assessment

Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence models and predictive models

2+ years of model validation experience
-
Knowledge of reinsurance industry, product and reinsurance valuation system and process
-
Knowledge of regulatory MRM requirements such as Canada OSFI E23, Bermuda SBA, and UK PRA SS1/23

Compensation Range:
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan.
