Job Description:

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is hiring an Application Manager to lead our Reporting, ETL & Business Intelligence Dashboards team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and modernization of enterprise reporting and dashboard capabilities using modern data engineering tech, cloud-based strategies, and ETL/integration frameworks.

• Proven Leadership in Modernization

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams through reporting technology consolidation and modernization initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and business goals. 

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, coupled with deep understanding of data warehousing concepts,  and ETL/ELT processes for scalable and efficient data pipelines.

• Cloud Data Strategy Expertise

  • Hands-on experience in defining and executing cloud data strategies leveraging platforms such as Google BigQuery or Microsoft Fabric, including migration planning and optimization.

• Experience managing competing priorities in support of operational and analytical business requirements

• Proficiency with PowerBI and visualization technologies

• Excitement around (and experience experimenting with) leveraging AI for efficiency and problem-solving

It would be great if you also had:

• BI & Visualization Tools experience

  • Experience with leading data visualization and BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, and Looker, including advanced dashboard design and performance tuning.

• Healthcare Data Domain Expertise

  • Familiarity with healthcare data ecosystems, including claims, membership, authorizations, and care management datasets, and understanding of regulatory compliance (HIPAA, etc.)

• Travel to our Chattanooga, TN headquarters for final interviews may be required.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitoring and maintaining adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.
• Overseeing multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.
• Maximizing staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.
• Analyzing applications to ensure that all systems that are developed, meeting business needs and specifications.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Sciences related field or equivalent work experience

Experience

• 8 years - Extensive systems analysis, design and project management experience required.
• 3 years - Management and/or leadership experience required

Skills\Certifications

• Proven technical background with a history of relational database and data warehousing technologies.
• Ability to design and develop using service oriented architecture and object oriented architecture design patterns
• Proven skill with information technology in use at BCBST is required
• Ability to conceive and deliver innovative solutions
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills and ability to perform non-routine analytical tasks
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
• Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers
• Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking, with strong abilities in relationship management
• Demonstrated ability to work with vendors, including discussions for contracts, price negotiation, and budgeting
