About the Role:
As a CBRE Application Developer, you will design, build, and maintain in-house tools and programs that support day-to-day operations and finance. This is a build-and-own role: rather than configuring purchased software, you will develop custom applications, integrations, and reporting to meet business needs.
You will also build the business intelligence behind these tools: the dashboards, metrics, and reporting that operations and finance rely on day to day, from performance tracking to cost, budget, and forecasting.
What You’ll Do:
• Design, develop, test, and maintain in-house applications and tools that support business operations.
• Build and maintain REST API integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms.
• Develop automation that reduces manual work and streamlines data entry and reporting.
• Build business intelligence dashboards and metrics that surface day-to-day operational performance for business leaders.
• Develop financial and cost reporting, including budget tracking and forecasting inputs, to support finance and business decisions.
• Design and maintain the databases, data pipelines, and reporting views behind these tools.
• Build internal-facing and mobile tools as business needs require.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into working software, and assess feasibility against time and cost constraints.
• Gather and evaluate user feedback, and improve tools for usability and reliability.
• Oversee testing, validation, and deployment, and ensure tools operate within established specifications and approved data-handling rules.
• Modify and extend existing tools to correct errors and improve performance.
• Apply sound engineering judgment to solve non-routine problems, and document code, integrations, and procedures so tools are maintainable.
• Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.
• Impact the quality of your own work and the work of others on the team, and explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
What You’ll Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 2-5 years of relevant software development experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Strong Python development skills, including building and consuming REST APIs.
• Front-end development for internal tools and dashboards (HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; a modern framework such as React is a plus).
• Experience building business intelligence dashboards and operational or financial reporting (with a tool such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar) is strongly preferred.
• Experience designing relational databases and writing SQL, and comfort building data pipelines from multiple sources.
• Experience integrating with third-party platforms via API keys, OAuth, or service accounts, and handling authentication securely (no stored end-user credentials).
• Ability to analyze possible solutions, apply appropriate judgment and precedent, and solve moderately complex problems independently.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset and a bias toward shipping working tools.
• Advanced math skills, with the ability to work with percentages, rates, and other financial-related calculations.
