Project Overview:

Purple, Rock, Scissors is looking for a detail-oriented Freelance AI Photo Editor to support one of our Big Tech clients and their merchants in creating compelling, on-brand imagery using generative AI tools. In this role, you’ll act as a creative quality gatekeeper—ensuring that AI-generated visuals align with each merchant’s brand identity and meet high visual standards. In this role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing, selecting, and refining AI-generated image outputs for marketing and e-commerce use. This includes flagging hallucinations, inconsistencies, or visual errors, and working with production teams or AI retouching tools to correct them. 

Job Description: 

As an AI Photo Editor, you will be responsible for AI generated images for a variety of merchant brands. You will familiarize yourself with the brand creative direction for each brand and the generated set of images. This includes understanding and upholding the visual identity and brand guidelines of each merchant you support and in the images you ultimately select to showcase to our users. 

We are looking for an AI Photo Editor to work with the team to:

• Understand and uphold the visual identity and brand guidelines of each merchant you support
• Review and curate AI-generated image sets, selecting those that meet brand and quality criteria. Ensure selected images are visually accurate, aesthetically pleasing, and on-brand 
• Identify visual hallucinations, distortions, or brand misalignments, and recommend specific elements for retouching 
• Provide clear, structured feedback to improve AI model performance and prompt strategies 
• Collaborate with the creative, product, and engineering teams to ensure imagery is merchant-facing ready 
• Maintain consistent documentation of feedback loops, error types, and quality issues for continuous improvement 
• Stay current with AI image generation trends, tools, and capabilities 

Qualifications: 

• 3+ years of experience in photo editing, art direction, or visual QA 
• Strong eye for detail, composition, lighting, realism, and brand consistency 
• Working knowledge of AI image generation tools (e.g. Midjourney, DALL·E, Firefly, etc.) is a plus 
• Ability to balance speed and quality in a high-volume production environment 
• Excellent communication and documentation skills 
• Passion for emerging tech and its role in the creative process 
• Maintain an organized workflow and track common photo issues to help improve prompt guidance or upstream AI model generation techniques 
• Comfortable working with AI-generated images and adjusting to varied styles and quality levels 
• Solid understanding of e-commerce, advertising, or editorial visual standards 
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects on deadline 
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and brand leads to understand each merchant’s visual guidelines and quality expectations
