POSITION OVERVIEW:
The ideal candidate will serve as primary communications partner for assigned general agencies of The UMC to provide strategic support for partners' content, initiatives and communications priorities.
Major accountabilities of this role are maintaining strong working relationships with assigned agency partners and the United Methodist Communication teams, promoting partner programs, initiatives and content by increasing awareness and engagement through effective communications and evaluating communications efforts to measure effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as the main communications liaison and strategist for assigned general agencies and develop an understanding of their work, priorities, audiences and communications needs.
- Develop and implement communications plans that support partner programs, initiatives and content.
- Work with United Methodist Communications teams to coordinate communications support and identify opportunities to share and promote partner work across UMCom channels.
- Manage and execute partner communications projects, timelines and priorities, working with agency and internal teams to ensure projects are completed successfully.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience of 5 years or more in strategic communications
- Knowledge of The United Methodist Church and its infrastructure is required.
- Strong writing, editing and messaging development skills.
- Experience developing communications strategies and coordinating campaigns.
- Ability to interpret analytics and engagement data to inform communications strategy.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with solution-driven mindset.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and interpret client needs
