Providing for loved ones, planning rewarding retirements, saving enough for whatever lies ahead – our policyholders count on us to be there when it matters most. It’s a big ask, but it’s one that we have the power to deliver when we work together. We collaborate and innovate – pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job; it’s a career with purpose. It’s a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future – including your own.

We’re actively seeking a talented Actuary & Director to join the Risk Management team. This role is on-site 4 days per week and work from home 1 day per week in Newport Beach, CA. If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance.
As Actuary & Director, Risk Governance and Reporting, you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by supporting the development of the enterprise risk management framework and enhancing our financial risk governance and reporting capabilities. You will fill an existing role in the risk management team, working alongside fellow risk professionals and interacting with many stakeholders across a broad range of functions.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Lead the coordination of organized and effective risk reporting processes, including the Company’s annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA)

  • Support the production of materials used to regularly inform the Company’s internal and external stakeholders on the enterprise risk profile and effectiveness of its risk management framework

  • Partner with 1st and 2nd line teams to ensure the Company's risk management framework is effectively documented, communicated, and integrated consistently across the organization

  • Provide effective review and challenge of aggregate financial risk results

The experience you bring:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the life insurance or reinsurance industry

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or equivalent professional qualification

  • Demonstrated understanding of various insurance and reinsurance product types across multiple accounting and regulatory capital frameworks

  • Ability and confidence to provide effective challenge to colleagues, including senior management, and a willingness to challenge the status quo

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and information to a variety of internal and external stakeholders

What makes you stand out:

  • Prior experience in enterprise risk management or similar enterprise-wide function

  • Knowledge and awareness of global insurance regulations and recent developments

  • Direct involvement in the ORSA process for a life insurance or reinsurance company

  • Strong project management and communication skills

Salary Ranges per Location:

  • Newport Beach, CA: $203,760 - $249,040

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$203,760.00 - $249,040.00
