Description

The Acquisitions Assistant is responsible for offering support to the Centralized selectors and the libraries using the Polaris Acquisitions module.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  

  • Create and release purchase orders in Acquisitions for all of the libraries participating in Centralized selection
  • Create On-Order items in all of the local library catalogs
  • Work with library funds and invoices inside Acquisitions as needed
  • Create reports in Acquisitions or the local systems as needed
  • Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

  • Some college-level coursework desired
  • Previous library experience required
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience with Polaris ILS a plus
  • Highly Detail-oriented, with the ability to not lose interest with repetitive tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Work well with a diverse, company-wide staff
  • High-speed internet access for remote work 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
