Cooley is seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to join the accounting department in the San Francisco office.

Hybrid Schedule Philosophy: As part of the Cooley culture, we recognize and appreciate the value of being together, in person, to build comradery with others in the office and to be a contributing member of the Cooley office. However, we also appreciate the benefits and flexibility that come from remote working. As such, the default assumption for employees and partners is a hybrid schedule: some in-office presence and some work from home days absent certain essential in-office roles that require five (5) days/week in-office.

Position summary: The Accounts Payable Assistant is responsible for daily reviewing of invoices and expense reports, and all accounting inquiries. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position responsibilities:

  • Post, process, review and file invoices

  • Assist in matching checks with invoices weekly

  • Assist in some Accounting inquires

  • Assist in vendor Statements, ACH Direct Deposit Form, W-9

  • Assist Accounts Payable department when needed

  • Back up to the AP Staff when needed

  • All other duties as assigned or required

Skills and experience:

Required:

  • Available to work overtime, as required

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, iManage and other firm applications

  • Available to work overtime, as required

  • General knowledge of accounting principles and/or bookkeeping

Preferred:

  • Previous 3E Elite and Chrome River experience

  • 10-key by touch

  • Previous law firm experience

Competencies:

  • Must be able to accurately use a calculator

  • Accuracy and initiative

  • Professional demeanor and telephone manners

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Ability to interact and work well with others (co-workers and vendors)

  • Excellent follow through skills

  • Excellent command of math and English grammar

Physical & Work Environment:

Extensive computer use, including use of keyboard and mouse or similar data input device required. Frequent reading, and communication required. Standard office setting with occasional exposure to typical environmental factors present. Reasonable accommodations available.

The expected hourly pay range for this position with a work schedule of 37.5 hours per week is $24.00 - $29.50 ($46,800.00 - $57,525.00 annually). Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
