Job Description:

American Stone is hiring a full-time Accounting Clerk I to support our Accounting Team with basic accounting tasks, data entry, reporting, and administrative support.

We are looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with systems, learning accounting processes, and supporting a fast-paced team environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This entry-level role supports day-to-day accounting operations and focuses on accuracy, organization, and reliability. The Accounting Clerk I works closely with the Accounting Team to help maintain organized records, process basic transactions, and assist with administrative accounting tasks.

Your Job Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Process accounts payable by entering invoices into our Odoo system, assisting with bill payments, and creating purchase orders as instructed
  • Assist with payroll support tasks such as reviewing employee hours, preparing pay slips, and entering production or commission data for quarry and sales employees
  • Process inter-company billing and receiving transactions
  • Maintain DOT compliance documentation, including driver files, inspection logs, and hours-of-service records
  • Prepare and maintain periodic reports for government agencies, including new hire reports (Utah Labor Commission), fuel tax reports (IFTA), and Mine Safety and Health documentation
  • Assist with new employee paperwork and basic onboarding documentation
  • Open and sort mail and help maintain organized accounting records and compliance files
  • Communicate with internal teams to ensure records and documentation remain accurate and up to date

Qualifications

  • Some college coursework in accounting, business, finance, or a related field is preferred*
  • Up to 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, or office support experience preferred*
  • Basic experience with spreadsheets or office software such as Excel, Google Sheets, or similar tools*
  • Experience with accounting or database systems (Peachtree, QuickBooks, Access, Quicken, or similar) is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow procedures and complete tasks accurately
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to pass a drug screening
  • Spanish-speaking ability is a plus

Schedule

The schedule is negotiable but generally falls within standard business hours.
