Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and a consideration of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The starting salary for this position based on residential location, is: CA $69,300.00, WA $67,410.00, Other locations: $63,000.00.
Antioch University Santa Barbara (AUSB) is seeking a full-time Teaching Faculty for the Master's in Clinical Psychology Program, which trains prospective Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Clinical Counselors for licensure under the California state Board of Behavioral Studies (BBS). As a member of the MA in Clinical Psychology program's team and under supervision of the Chair, Teaching Faculty members have responsibility primarily for engagement in student learning through scheduled University course instruction and related student advisement. Other activities in support of student learning may also be part of the specified responsibilities. As Teaching Faculty, responsibilities may include but are not limited to: teaching, advising, and assisting in curriculum development within the program.
Teaching Faculty provide essential leadership to students in MACP and Antioch University Santa Barbara by providing excellent academic instruction and a supportive, inclusive classroom and university community environment. Teaching Faculty are expected to be leaders in their field with appropriate content expertise and knowledge of teaching methods combined with practical experience teaching graduate level students and adult learners. Teaching Faculty are expected to represent the department in a positive and professional manner.
Demonstrated competence in clinical training requirements leading to California Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counselor licensure and any of the following areas is highly desired: somatic psychotherapy and somatic psychology, cultural competence and foundational theories in clinical practice, family systems, child development and psychotherapy, addiction and recovery, trauma studies, research methodology, psychological assessment, psychopathology, and/or clinical supervision and practicum.
Courses are taught on campus and evening and weekend availability is desirable but not required. Teaching faculty members have a flexible hybrid work schedule and are on campus up to three days per week.

Position Overview
Teaching faculty members are responsible for engaging in student learning and institutional citizenship. The percent of time devoted to each area varies with unit needs, and individual skills and capacities, and stage of career. Early-career Teaching faculty members will be provided with guidance from experienced faculty members. Teaching faculty report to the Chair of the MA in Clinical Psychology Department. Teaching faculty are expected to engage in direct instruction teaching 36 quarter credits over four quarters. Courses are taught on campus and evening and weekend availability is desirable but not required. Teaching faculty members have a flexible hybrid work schedule and are expected to be on campus up to three days per week. Student advising requires knowledge of Antioch policies and a quarterly review of student advisees' academic records and progress. Student advising also requires availability during regular office hours and timely response to students by email, telephone or Zoom.
A Teaching faculty member will be asked to serve on program and university committees and is expected to participate in the work of the faculty, including developing the MACP curriculum and ensuring the quality of the curriculum and instruction to meet program, specialization, and California MFT licensure requirements. Teaching faculty are also expected to attend weekly departmental meetings as well as scheduled community meetings with AULA every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.
The position has responsibilities that include:
- Primary responsibilities center on teaching 36 quarter units across 4 quarters per year. Also serves as mentor and advisor for students in professional development and clinical training.
- Serves on campus, regional, and university wide committees as approved by the program Chair.
- In conversation with the program chair, works with admissions in reviewing applications and interviewing of candidates.
- Serves as Director of academic concentrations as assigned. Participates in the collection of data for program evaluation and accreditation processes.
- Participates in curriculum development and revision, grant-writing, and other departmental initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned by Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS (The Teaching faculty in the AUSB MACP Program must hold):
- Terminal graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Counseling, or a closely related field (e.g., PhD, EdD, PsyD, DMFT)
- Independently licensed as an LMFT, LPCC, LCSW, or a Psychologist.
- A demonstrated record of at least two years of successful teaching experience in a graduate level clinical psychology curriculum.
- Skilled in demonstration-based teaching (faculty need to teach using real/live demonstration) and experiential learning
- Relevant record of community engagement and/or a professional portfolio showing experience in area of expertise
- Experience in working with adult students and a diverse faculty and student body with strong multicultural competencies
- Experience in technology mediated education and information literacy recommended
- Able to teach and meet students on campus in Santa Barbara.
- Demonstrated commitment to socio-cultural diversity and social justice. We are particularly interested in psychology professionals with a commitment and track record of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the realms of research, teaching and/or service.
- Academic background and experience in any of the following is desirable: somatic psychotherapy and somatic psychology, trauma studies, community psychology, multicultural psychology, Latinx Studies, Black Studies, mindfulness studies, liberation psychology, and ecopsychology.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to oversee various operational processes within the department at one time
- Clear developmental skills with a focus on providing new opportunities for students, faculty and staff to excel.
- Ability to be flexible and working in an environment of expansion and change
