The job opportunity
We are seeking an experienced senior IT Project Manager to play a key role in preparing OFM to implement One Washington, the new statewide enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. In this position, you will lead projects directly impacting how state agencies, higher education institutions, the Legislature, and the Governor's Office manage interconnected enterprise applications. You will oversee multiple projects and sub-projects that support the transition from legacy systems to the new ERP. Success will require strong technical and project management skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders-each with their own priorities and needs. You will help shape the future of statewide business processes by aligning technology solutions with organizational goals, developing project schedules and work plans, and implementing complex enterprise changes. What you will work on

Lead, plan, and control multiple projects and sub-projects for implementing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application for OFM.?

Identify and manage impacts to Legacy applications as the ERP is rolled out in phases by creating several sub-projects and working with diverse business lines, technologies, and teams.

Manage change, risk, and quality management processes throughout the project's lifecycle, including identifying and escalating risks to the OneWa team when appropriate.

Coach and mentor agile teams to ensure projects deliver the desired outcomes and benefits.

Provide project management services such as status, projection, and budget/spend reporting, total cost of ownership assessment, leading meetings, driving projects/tasks to completion, tying actions to metrics such as hours, project goals, and organizational strategy, managing governance and gateways, and accepting responsibility for project teams' performance.

Provide leadership, consultation, and oversight to the project team members and stakeholders throughout the project.

Develop all the required project documentation, including but not limited to plans to manage the project integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, risk, procurement, change, and stakeholders.

Identify the needed resources (contractors, staff, and technology) and work with resource managers to assemble project teams.

Assign project team members' responsibilities and tasks, set project performance expectations, and create accountability within the team to the project and each other.
What we need you to bring
Required Qualifications:
Project Management (PMI Standards)
- Expertise in managing full project life cycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closeout.
Agile Project Management / Agile Coaching
- Practical experience in Agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, etc.).
- Strong skills in applying Agile principles to large, complex projects.
ERP Implementation & IT Systems Integration Experience
- Understanding of business processes impacted by ERP: HR, finance, procurement, etc.
- Familiarity with data conversion, system integration, legacy system decommissioning, and phased rollouts.
Strategic Thinking and Problem Solving
- Ability to manage large-scale, high-impact, multi-agency projects.
- Strong judgment in resolving complex interdependencies and conflicts.
Interpersonal & Leadership Competencies
- Excellent relationship-building skills across executives, technical staff, and end users.
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations, developing communications strategies, and providing organizational change support.
- Ability to lead cross-functional, matrixed teams from multiple agencies and divisions.
- Coaching, mentoring, and fostering collaboration among diverse teams.
Governance and Compliance
- Ability to coordinate with oversight bodies like the WaTech.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, public administration, business management, project management, or related field or discipline.
- Senior-level experience successfully managing a range of medium-to-large information technology projects with increasing complexity.
- Project Management Professional Certification or formal Project Management coursework.
