Position Summary

Department Summary

Information Technology Services is responsible for the development, implementation and operation of information technology systems and communications networks for Oregon Tech. The following objectives are central to our mission: Support student computer labs, academic computing, and administrative systems, and maintain system functions; develop, recommend, and implement strategic solutions utilizing emerging information technologies to sustain and improve services to the continually changing Oregon Tech campus environment; and strive to provide cost effective, reliable and responsive services to all areas of the institution.

Position Summary

This position will be a part of the Applications Development team and support a variety of web-based services including public facing websites, the campus portal, internally used solutions such as ticketing/work order systems, calendaring, and Canvas LMS.

The responsibilities of this position are as follows: plan, organize, coordinate, evaluate and participate in IT projects; plan and monitor performance against project goals and objectives and ensure project results; interact with internal and external stakeholders to provide training and build support.

This position offers the option for remote work (within the US). Annual Convocation attendance is required; as is the ability to travel to campus if needed for specific projects.

Minimum Requirements

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse set of programmers and customers.
  • Experience working collaboratively on remote team to deliver quality outcomes
  • Experience coordinating local and vendor efforts to facilitate technical solutions and resolve vendor application issues.
  • Self-directed approach to maintaining systems and resolving issues.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and common frameworks
  • Experience with server-side rendering technologies such as ASP.NET or PHP
  • Proficient at creating written directions for using various computer programs as well as creating tutorial videos.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis at the time of hire; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or other employment-based immigration support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DevOps utilizing GitHub Actions
  • Experience deploying solutions to Microsoft Azure
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as Mongo and Cosmos
  • Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience leading complex IT projects in a university environment
