Bilingual Community
Mental Health Educator
to join the Community Engagement team
to
deliver culturally and linguistically relevant psychoeducation to Latino community members across the state. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with communities, believes in the power of education to promote mental health, and values collaboration across teams and partners.
The annual salary for this position is $55,000,

This is a hybrid position; working a regular schedule of 37.5 hours per week, with occasional work time in the evening and/or
weekends.
Must be available for Friday meetings and programmatic events. One day in-person work, minimum, in the Durham office required, as well as regular travel within North Carolina.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Bilingual Community Mental Health Educator performs a wide range of functions including, but not limited to:
- Develop and deliver culturally relevant psychoeducational workshops, presentations, and training sessions in Spanish and English across North Carolina.
- Engage Latino communities in conversations about mental health, substance use prevention, stress, trauma, and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate closely with El Futuro's clinical, community engagement, and training teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Represent El Futuro at community events, forums, schools, churches, and health fairs.
- Tailor content and formats to meet the needs of different audiences (e.g., youth, parents, faith communities, school staff).
- Collect participant feedback and data to inform program improvement and impact evaluation.
- Identify high priority areas for community education.
- Support the coordination of statewide events and campaigns related to mental health awareness and stigma reduction.
- Maintain strong relationships with local partners and community organizations.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF EL FUTURO STAFF
- Participate in meetings and organizational related activities as directed by the supervisor, which may include All Staff Meeting, one-on-one meetings, participation on committees, participation in community engagement events, or other activities.
- Play an active role in the continued development of El Futuro's work via participation in fundraising and other agency-wide activities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field
OR
equivalent training and experience.
- Experience in community outreach, health education, or related field (mental health experience preferred).
Preferred:
- Experience providing training/workshops with adult learners.
- Direct practice experience with Latino clients.
- Experience in curriculum and/or training content development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Required:
- Fluency in spoken Spanish and English. Must be able to read and communicate, including providing training and other professional services in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge and experience relevant to providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health services for the Latino communities.
- Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Comfort working in diverse community settings (e.g. churches, schools, health clinics, etc.).
- Comfort using web conferencing platforms (e.g. Zoom, Teams etc.), as well as comfort with computer programs including MS365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and others).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to self-monitor and work independently.
- Flexibility, creativity and a spirit of collaboration to address developing programmatic needs.

Preferred:
- Familiarity with the principals of implementation science and adult learning styles
- Familiarity with content creation, project management, and data management programs (Canva, Monday.com, RedCap or similar)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid role, primarily remote; with occasional in-person work in the Durham clinic.
- Work schedule includes:
- Regular travel to provide training in the Triangle area and within North Carolina (must have reliable transportation)
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Availability for Friday all-staff or programmatic meetings between 9:00am and 11:00am.
