Job Description:

  • Note: this position will receive a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase of 6.55% which is not reflected in the salary listed in this posting. The effective date of the increase is January 1, 2025 and will be paid in the February 1, 2025 paycheck.

This position is eligible for hybrid remote work on a part-time basis once the incumbent has gained the proficiency to perform work independently. However, regular, scheduled office hours are also required.

Here's what you will do:

As a WC Insurance Coverage Investigator, you will determine if employers are subject to, and in compliance with, workers' compensation insurance coverage requirements by gathering and evaluating information and applying laws, rules, and policies during routine investigations. You will also serve as an initial point of contact for public inquiries about workers' compensation insurance coverage, providing stakeholder education and assisting employers in order to reduce non-compliance.

Here's what you need to qualify:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years' experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide eligibility or compliance with program guidelines and regulations

Note: college-level course work may substitute for the experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year of experience

Requested Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, both verbally (in person/telephone) and written (investigative reports, emails, and letters)

  • Ability to interpret and communicate laws, rules, policies, and regulations to diverse individuals with differing learning capabilities

  • Ability to remain focused on the job at hand, even with constant interruptions

  • Ability to work in potentially hostile situations, remain calm, and diffuse the situation

  • Demonstrated ability to enter, research, and interpret data from multiple sources

  • Demonstrated ability to interview others, obtain information, and document facts

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others

  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer technology
