Introduction
\nThe Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population - students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.\n

POSITION DUTIES
The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist plans, implements, coordinates and monitors rehabilitation programs for individuals being served at the Workforce & Technology Center (WTC). Counseling and guidance are provided to consumers to ensure that comprehensive services contribute to the achievement of established training goals, support career and employment objectives, and address the personal, social and independence skills necessary to promote employment outcomes. This position provides program support to students and staff in the management and direction of services for individuals with disabilities at WTC.\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree.\n\n\nExperience: Two years of professional\nexperience in a behavioral or social science-related field or one year of\nprofessional experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist I providing\nrehabilitation counseling or vocational evaluation services to clients with\nphysical or behavioral disabilities, or teaching services to clients with\npartial or total visual impairment. \n\n\nNote: A Master's degree in a\nBehavioral or Social Science related field may be substituted for one year of\nthe required experience.\n\n
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to\napplicants who possess the following preferred\nqualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your\napplication regarding your qualifications.\n\n\n Professional experience\n working with individuals with disabilities. \n Experience proving career\n counseling and case management. \n Using an electronic case\n management system. \n Experience working in\n employment training programs.\n\n\n
